HughesNet High-Speed Internet Service:

HughesNet uses a satellite modem called DW7000 to provide customers with its high-speed Internet connection, and the service is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. If you’re new to broadband, then you’re sure to be impressed with how fast the service is. Broadband service means no more waiting for large files to download, no more tied-up phone lines, and easy and quick uploading. With HughesNet, you’ll enjoy an “always on” connection that works as soon as you sit down at your computer.

Currently, HughesNet offers two types of plans for its new customers. Residential customers with only one computer in the house would probably be most interested in the Home Service plan. This plan features download speeds of up to 2Mbps, and upload speeds of 500 Kbps. Additionally, five e-mail accounts are automatically provided, each of which comes with 10 Mb of storage.

HughesNet's other plan is called Professional Service, and it is especially designed for subscribers who are running a business out of their own home, need to support up to two concurrent users, and need to frequently download large files. This plan features download speeds up to 2 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 1 Mbps. Five e-mail accounts are provided as well.

This page allows you to download various video clips, music files and software upgrades. Once you’ve downloaded the files, the site will tell you how your service compares to HughesNet.
